This is a list of state run universities in Poland. In total, there are approximately 500 universities and schools for higher education in the country. Brackets give the Polish name followed by a standard abbreviation for the university's name (if commonly used or if existent). Note that many of these institutions style themselves as "University" in English, even if they do not officially have the status of Uniwersytet.
